Hong Kong Engineer Features Integrated Design

We are pleased to have contributed our thoughts and practices on BIM within the Hong Kong Engineer Newsletter this month. There are several paragraphs which Integrated Design were able to articulate the cases on how BIM is currently or will impact those subjects mentioned. We hope you enjoy the read and find it informative no matter which level of BIM knowledge you may have.

Timing and rollout are both critical when it comes to deploying BIM, Jacob Lucier, Director; Integrated Design Ltd noted, "BIM Management and Contract Administration is a critical component for the application of BIM in the design and construction of Hong Kong's current and future projects, Every project is unique and has different BIM uses applied at different stages for different purposes. These uses, responsibilities and implementation are to be clearly defined and administrated throughout the project." He added, "As the whole industry migrates to common BIM platforms and standards yet to be defined, each contracting party has a duty and responsibility to fulfil and deliver their party's responsibilities promptly. Any deviation or delay in the delivery and quality of this digital information may severely impact the schedule and delivery of the project as the entire supply chain becomes more and more centralised, integrated and reliant on BIM. With due diligence, careful management and upskilling talent to leverage the latest technologies, BIM is set to be the cornerstone of a multitude of engineering projects. With BIM underpinning such projects, Hong Kong's engineering sector will be able to further strengthen its position as a powerhouse for the construction industry across Asia-Pacific.
